A Passion for the Event
Like most people, I get asked in natural conversation what I do for a living. I used to say DJ. When I got done explaining, “no, I don’t work at a radio station…I do weddings and corporate events”…I usually got two responses. One: “yeah, but what’s your real job?”…or two: they’ll pretend they’re scratching a record with the whicky-whicky-wack sound LOL.
So now, when I’m asked, I say “I create a series of unforgettable moments”. Because that’s what I feel like I do. I don’t go through the motions, ever. There are no cookie cutter weddings. Whatever I do, wherever I perform, I am accountable to the families I work with and for. I OWE you 100%, simply because you put your faith in having a great, and memorable, event.
I’m writing this page right now from the Mobile Beat DJ Convention in Las Vegas. And I was listening to one of the industry leaders, Mark Ferrell, speak on the need for passion for what we do…and a true love for our clients. Many of my beliefs in how to run this business, he was discussing in a large forum.
As he’s talking, I get a notification on my cell that I received a new testimonial. And the timing could not have been more brilliant.
It was from Rachel…I did hers and her new husband Bo’s wedding at Old Red Museum in Dallas a couple weeks ago.
Here it is:
Rod did an absolutely fantastic job with our wedding and reception. My husband and I have kind of eclectic music taste, and Rod went above and beyond to make sure that the music selection was exactly what we wanted. Everyone had a really great time at the reception… the great variety of music and great little extras like the newlywed game were big hits.
Rod was very professional, but very personal at the same time. He really took care of us and made me feel like it was just as important to him as it was to me that our wedding was a success. Anytime I called or emailed, I got a response within a few hours, not several days later like a lot of vendors. Even if he couldn’t help me with what I needed right away, he always still emailed me back to let me know and told me when he would be able to help.
I can’t say enough good things about Rod… a great price, a great service, and a great guy!
If anyone asks me why I do this, I will refer them to this post. I DO care about it like it was mine. It’s not a business decision, it’s a personal decision to do things this way. And I won’t lie, this philosphy pays me big dividends. People want someone that will share the joy of their day. And I humbly submit that yes, I am.
Have a great day, and if you know anyone who needs someone to help create a series of unforgettable moments, have them give me a shout.
